No one can deny this Coronavirus (Covid-19) pandemic has changed the way we live our daily lives. With many individuals now working from home more than ever, it is important to be cautious when using digital platforms. In an effort to keep our community safe, we would like to share a couple security reminders. We hope these reminders help you stay safe while working from home.
- Protect your data/personal information: by now you probably avoid sharing personal information like your bank account and social security number. Avoiding unsolicited/unknown email, phone call, text message, or instant message is also important. But remember these things can also happen at work. Always be on the look out for all these things. Remember that scammers can create email addresses and website that might look legitimate at first glimpse. They can even fake a caller ID information to make it seem like they are calling you from the same city.
- Avoid pop-ups and any unknown links: phishers will try many things to trick you into clicking on a link that can give them access to your personal information. Avoiding things like this can be harder to do so at work. It is why is important to always be cautious when opening emails with attachments/links. Remember to never enter personal or company information in response to an email or any other form of communication you didn’t initiate.
